Answers
We saw the infectious disease team today, and Jacob definitely has pneumocystis pneumonia, and just as definitely, is already on the right treatment for. It just takes a while to go away - three weeks minimum, but they are going to continue treating for three months as a preventative to relapse.
Though pneumocystis indicates that he is still immune compromised, the fact that he didn't get really, really sick says that his immune system is working. So the glass is half full.
He's also on treatment for the pseudomonas, including, finally, starting the Tobramycin that was such a bear to get a hold of, so his medication schedule is complicated. I had to make a chart for the refrigerator.
Its really hard for Jacob to deal with. He was ready to be done with doctors and medicines and he's right back in the middle of it again.
But school is off to a great start. He's excited about his classes and what he's learning. And this too shall pass.
