Skip this if you don't want to read about health insurance
My sister, Susan, sent me another perspective on health insurance plan outlining a plan introduced by State Senator Sheila Kuehl.

Clearly the Kuehl plan is more comprehensive, but I'm really sorry to see them in opposition. The thing that is exciting about the Governor's plan is that it might actually happen.
The best thing would be to take these criticisms and incorporate them into the Governor's plan. The core of the criticism is that:
"The central basis of the Governor’s plan is simply to mandate that every Californian must, by law, carry health insurance. There is no requirement that it be affordable and no minimum coverage. This means that the requirement can be met by a bare-bones policy covering only catastrophic events, with a $5,000 deductible and up to $7500 in out of pocket expenses for all the things that aren’t covered by the policy." I think this and some of the other very cogent criticisms could be adressed. If only they would work together...
