Cappy's Window
Back when Ellie was a baby, and we lived in Washington State, Cappy Thompson, the glass artist made a window for us.
Since Jacob was diagnosed only a few months after we moved into this house, it's been in storage and we've missed it terribly.
Today, the woodworker finally set in place and it is perfect, and heartbreakingly beautiful.
Cappy has gone on to become an internationally recognized artist. For years she worked mainly on large hand blown vessels, and more recently on enormous architectural commissions, but can see the thread that runs back to the beginning, the stories, the sense of the sacred.
The piece Cappy did for the Evergreen State College Library, is called "I Imagine Us As a Holy Family Engaging In the Great Work of Increasing the Light." Isn't that a title to conjure with?
